BT has announced the opening of the BT and St. Crispin’s
IT Training Centre in Pune, India, to provide underprivileged
children with IT skills and vocational training. BT and St.
Crispin’s are aiming to teach 1,400 children from the
poorest communities in Pune over the next three years.
The IT Training Centre is an initiative between BT and St Crispin’s.
St. Crispin’s is a registered charity in Pune, providing
a residential home and school for 675 underprivileged children.
The IT Training Centre, which is set up within St. Crispin’s
school, includes a state-of-the-art lab with computers, audio
visual teaching aids and classroom for teaching theory.
BT and St. Crispin’s have worked closely together to create
the IT training programme, recruit and prepare the teachers,
and provide the computers and software to ensure that students
are able to access the latest technology. The objective of the
facility is to provide practical IT skills to students that
will assist in their future economic independence.
